I'm mother to a 13 year old who thinks she's a boy. She came out to us last week. I found someone has given her a binder, and her drama club has socially transitioned her behind our backs.
She has other psychological issues, but has never had therapy. Looking for a therapist in San Francisco, but worried I won't find someone following evidence based practices.

My daughter is struggling with a number of things, possible autism, sensory issues, ARFID and is being drawn to trans identification. I need to find a non-affirming therapist in my area (southwestern NH). Most of Massachusetts, the Boston area is doable for us. Thank you!

Go to this link and click on "Find therapists" at the top of the page. https://genderexploratory.com/ They don't have a huge list but are adding new names on a regular basis. Otherwise, I recommend posting your query in the members-only area, where it will be seen by more of our members. You'll also find tips for interviewing therapists and for finding your own therapist in the event that you don't get a recommendation. Best wishes, Marge

My daughter is now 17 and when she was in the 9th grade decided she is transgender, in middle school she was pansexual. I love her and support her but I do not see her as a boy since this change in her was so sudden. She was always a little girly girl prancing around in toy high heels and play make-up. I need recommendations for a therapist who will get to the core of her issues and open her eyes to the reality of her virtual world. I believe she's been influenced by her friends and social media. Please help with any info and recommendations! I can't seem to find any therapist that will address our concerns. Hello, did anyone find someone in PA? I’m specifically looking in south, central PA. Need therapist for my 18yr old son who decided a year and half ago he was trans. On autism spectrum and highly gift. No other factors or indicators….other than he lives by anything Discord tells him.

Hello,
I just joined because I'm a concerned friend of people who are dealing with gender identity issues in their children. I'd like to help them find gender critical therapists in our area. I live in Rhode Island. I wish there was some kind of hotline directory. It's a shame those seeking non- affirming help have to do it so secretly. Thank you in advance for any referrals. I'll be sure to pass along this support group.

It's wonderful that you understand what we face. Friends like you are so important. Your account has been activated. GETA (Gender Exploratory Therapy Association) does have a therapist directory. Although their directory still offers fairly slim pickins, it is growing all the time as more and more therapists realize that kids must have lengthy, thorough, careful exploration of their underlying issues before even considering social or medical transition. Go to the following link and click on the heading "find therapists" at the top of the page. Browse through all therapist list pages and perhaps you will find someone in your area. https://www.genderexploratory.com/ Online Zoom/teletherapy may be an option if there are no exploratory therapists in your area. However, it is my understanding (I could be mistaken) that therapists must be licensed in the state where the patient resides, so online therapy may not open as many doors as it might seem. However, also as I understand it, an option to consider might be life coaching, as I believe they are not subject to stringent licensing requirements like therapists are. I believe there are a few life coaches listed on the GETA website. Just something to consider and look into further. There's also the possibility that one of our members might have a therapist recommendation. I urge you to post your query in the members-only area so that more people will see it. Most members don't vists this area of the forum too often. Welcome.
Any suggestions for finding a therapist in the Atlanta area. I have a teen girl.
