Looking for a therapist in Pennsylvania.  Preferably within 1 hour of Philadlephia or Harrisburg as we live in between.

Hello, I'm in the PA area and looking for a therapist.  My daughter is now 17 and when she was in the 9th grade decided she is transgender, in middle school she was pansexual.  I love her and support her but I do not see her as a boy since this change in her was so sudden.  She was always a little girly girl prancing around in toy high heels and play make-up.  I need recommendations for a therapist who will get to the core of her issues and open her eyes to the reality of her virtual world.  I believe she's been influenced by her friends and social media.  Please help with any info and recommendations!  I can't seem to find any therapist that will address our concerns.

I can recommend someone. Please PM me.  He is actually my counselor as I wanted to find someone to hold my hand through this journey.  I think very highly of him.  He is gender-critical.

Now I just need to find a new counselor for my daughter as the one she picked for herself is just making everything worse.

Hi, my name is Kathy and I am in the reno area. I am looking for someone who is familiar with RODG and not someone who will push her right through to therapy. My daughter just told us she thinks she is trans and I noticed this last year (senior year) that she is started dressing more in mens clothes. I also see that her entire friend circle has come out as LGBTQIA+ (not all trans but others in the community. My concern is that she had never shown an incline of this and has always been relatively happy. She does have sensory processing disorder, anxiety and mild depression but is not suicidal and never has been. We used to talk about everything and anything, she told me things I would never have told my mom! She had never had a boy or girl friend, never kissed or held hands with anyone. This year she has pulled away though. She is already talking hormones so she went to see her GP, unfortunately she referred her to and endo and gender therapist. Does anyone live in this area and have suggestions?

Hello, I am looking for a therapist in the Reno, NV area for my 18 year old daughter

For the last year (her senior year) she has been dressing more boyish, I didn't think much about it as it was similar to her friends. A couple of weeks ago she told me that she really hated her breasts and was feeling like she should be a man. I was shocked to say the least as there had never been any signs. As a child she was mostly a normal girl, she wasn't girly but she didn't favor a boy either. She was very artsy and placed with craft and art things, not really toys so there isn't really a way I would have noticed anything there. She always preferred dresses, not frilly ones just skirts and dresses. We found that she had some auditory and tactile sensory issues and was diagnosed with SPD as well as anxiety and ocd (obsessive hand washer). She hated getting her hands dirty. Through puberty there was never an issue with regards to starting her period or breast development. She never had large breasts and still doesn't. She want's to be done with her period (what girl doesn't??) and get rid of her chest. She did not ask me to change pronouns or call her a different name. I asked if she came up with a different name and she told me that she hadn't decided between 2 of them but didn't tell me what they were. With her new job she did put pronouns if He/him and a new name on her name tag as well as at the Dr when she went in.

I believe that it may be RODG an part of what contributed to her dysphoria was friends. I'm not saying that it is the only reason since I don't really know but within the last year her entire friend group all came out as something within the LGBTQ area. Maybe they became friends because of like minds or maybe they just decided they wanted to be something else. She is in a very small school with a super high % of kids that identify LGBTQ in the last few years (about 30% mostly girls).

I have been supportive but not over the top "Yay, let's get going and you transitioned!". I am less than thrilled about the issue but if it is truly a problem then we will deal with it. She doesn't appear to be depressed or have suicide ideation (as well the questionnaire they do at the Dr showed mild depression) But I am being as supportive as possible . As she is considered an adult, I told her she is responsible for all her medical stuff now, appointments and therapy that she has referrals on. I don't plan to lead her through this, she is legally and adult and in my opinion its an adult decision. She is not a fan of medical procedures or anything medical so I am hoping that will help slow things down so she can think.

Any suggestions would be wonderful.

In this episode, Nina and Corinna interview Stephanie Winn, who is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, advocate for victims of gender medicine, and podcaster. 

There's a fair bit of information mentioned on ways to find responsible mental health professional - particularly for detransitioners. But also, lots of useful information on how to get support for your rights as a consumer of mental health services which is available through state regulators, etc.

And, if nothing else, Ms. Winn provides some valuable advice on how to question a therapist . . . 

Worth catching, and it might be useful.

Hi all, we're looking for a therapist or any other kind of support for our 13 year old daughter who been identifying as a trans boy for the last few months and has been wanting to start puberty blockers and is also already wanting top surgery. She's never evidenced any kind of GD anytime prior to just a few months ago, so we'd like to explore the deeper layers of what might be happening.

Hi, I am new to this group. My 16-year-old daughter announced 2 years ago that she was "non-binary". Like others in this group, she showed absolutely no signs of any sort of gender dysphoria until a LOT of internet use (including watching porn in 6th grade right as she hit puberty, which my husband and I believe turned her away from the idea of any sort of heterosexual relationship). She wants us to use "they/them" and call her by the name Blake, which she thinks is gender neutral because of Blake Lively. She says that she wants to dress gender neutral, but everything she wears is masculine. Ironically, all through elementary school she would ONLY wear dresses and skirts. My daughter hasn't started talking about hormones, but she is binding her chest with an ace bandage. I am so worried that once she turns 18, I won't be able to stop her from taking drastic measures. 
Anyway, I know that most therapists automatically confirm that these girls are trans with no questions asked. I am looking for a therapist who might have a different viewpoint and explore this deeper with her. Can anyone recommend a therapist in the St. Louis area? I am getting desperate as this is bringing our relationship to a breaking point. I love her and don't want to lose her.

Hi I am from Manchester New Hampshire. I am looking for a therapist for my daughter, who identifies as they them But likes to be called a boys name. She dresses as a girl and wears make up and jewelry, but would like to be called a boys name She has never been so confused with her identity. She has always identified as she her. This whole trend and social media plus friends have done an amount of damage to her. Can I please get a referral to someone who is in my area.
