We are looking for a gender critical therapist in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area.  Anyone have any referrals?

15 year daughter ROGD, current therapists did not want to help, now daughter is 16 years old and  we are back looking for new therapist.  I feel like we lost a year of finding the root cause of any underlying issues.

Tried to reply in the public space as I was not sure you had joined.  Did you find a therapist?  I may have one if she is taking new patients.  I will check.  I do believe from all our visits that she is taking a critical eye to my son's "diagnosis".  We together decided not to go to Genecis who will only affirm.

I know this is an older thread but saw that you mentioned a "Resources" section in the members only area on therapists.  We are having difficulties locating that page.  Could you walk us through how to get there.  Thank you

I had the same question.  I've seen 'Resources' mentioned a couple of times but can't find it.  Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

You need to be approved by a moderator.  Hang in there - it doesn't usually take long - and then you will have access to all the resources.  I would say welcome, but that seems wrong as it means yet another family has been impacted, but you will find a very supportive group here.

Thanks, hummingbird, for your response to Concerned Parent 11. You are right -- Concerned Parent 11 just needed to have their account manually activated.

CP11, your account is now activated and you now have access to the entire members-only forum, including the resources section. Please post back if you're still having trouble finding it and we will help you out.

-Older, 50+ is good ( someone who has a lot of experience is less likely to be caught up in the quick-to-confirm frenzy than a younger therapist who is more apt to buy in to this "modern" approach. An older therapist will also have experience with (or at least a working knowledge of) other social contagions in teen girls (ex. bulemia in the 80s-90s) so are more likely to recognize it for what it is.

-Do not choose a  "Gender Identity Therapist"-A lot of therapist are building their careers on this profitable niche market. There is no certification or licensing or qualifications required to declare yourself a specialist in this brand new field. They will likely be quick to confirm and insist that you do the same.

-When looking for a therapist, send out emails to many different therapists asking point blank if they recognize the sudden spike in adolescent girls suddenly identifying as boys, and how do they explain the phenomenon. Ask if they see it as a possible social contagion. You will learn who you are dealing with by how they answer this question, I believe. You want a therapist who believes that girls start presenting as trans because they are anxious and/or depressed, not the other way around as trans-activists would have you believe.

We have just started with a 60+, male, old-school psychotherapist in Kansas City, Mo. My daughter adores him and its only been one meeting. They spent the first session exploring her subconscious through analyzing her dreams. Afterwards, she said "I want to see him every day!". It was a totally different approach than any of the other therapists shes had (she also suffers from anxiety, and was depressed for about a year--severly limiting her iphone time helped with that tremendously).

I will ask him if he knows anyone in Denver. Hes been around forever so he just might.
Can you ask him if he knows anyone in Chicago??

Hello.  I am probably not alone in feeling desperate and lost in all of this.  My teen has opened up to me about multiple things, one of which sounds like gender dysphoria.  I am frozen solid on what to do next.  I am VERY wary of today's political climate (I tend to be a very middle of the road person, looking to reason and credible science where possible) and its influence on this topic is truly scary.

I just want to make sure that a doctor we visit will be as unbiased as possible in diagnosing what is actually happening.  This all came about at in late teen years, but feelings started with the onset of puberty.  Totally normal gender feelings through childhood through their own recollection.

I am checking online resources all over the place, but so many are overrun with bias and "cancel" culture stuff (e.g. no room to posit ideas or potential solutions).  I really want to help my child through this, but I am so scared to make the wrong decision.  I have coached to take things very slow and that the goal should be to resolve the dysphoria with an appropriate professional.

Sorry this is so long - just trying to give a little background and look for a potential list of reasonable psychologist/psychiatrists that will not diagnose without real discovery.
I am a little nervous about posting my location on the public side of this forum as I do not want this tracing back in any way to my child/family.  What would I need to fill out or whom do I connect with to enter the private portion?

Thank you!

My teen has a set of other issues as well, particularly anxiety attacks and depression. I would like to find a psychiatrist in the Denver metro area who could work with these other issues and consider whether to recommend antidepressants. A psychologist or analyst who would be committed to discussing possible non-medical ways of dealing with the dysphoria, depression, and anxiety would also be helpful. I am very concerned about what I have heard about hormones and surgeries being recommended to teens, and would like to avoid health care practitioners who would steer my teen in that direction. Does anybody know of reliable psychiatrists or other health care practitioners in the Denver metro area? On a broader note, what experiences have you all had with helping a trans identified teen with anxiety, depression, and gender dysphoria, and have you found medical practitioners who were committed to examining other avenues than referrals to clinics for hormones and surgeries?
Tamara,
I am also looking for providers in the Denver area. My 16 year old daughter, who suffers from anxiety and depression, also just told us she is trans.  I am happy to share my research with you. Have you had any luck finding help?

I am also looking for providers in the Denver area. I am happy to share my research with others in Denver looking for therapists as well.

My 16 year old daughter just told us she is trans, she also suffers from depression, anxiety and is completely addicted to the internet. I feel like she is a very classic case of ROGD and I am very nervous about finding the right support for her.

I am also interested in learning more about attachment parenting. I feel like she turned to the internet in 2015 when my husband and I were going through a very rough time in our marriage, I feel like she drifted away when we were guilty of being emotionally unavailable during a very pivotal time in her life. We need guidance in trying to reconnect with her.

I'm so thankful to find this group. I realize this is an older thread, but I'm desperate to find a gender-critical therapist in the Dallas/North Dallas area. My daughter endured a trauma within two weeks of onset of puberty. She feels that FTM transition will make all her self-esteem issues relating to the trauma disappear. Current counselors are solely focusing on her declaration of transgender instead of helping her work through the initial trauma. Her school counselor is praising and congratulating her trans declaration and using male pronouns. NO ONE is addressing the root-cause of her mental decline, and we are desperate to find a doctor who will listen. Thank you in advance for any suggestions, and please let me know if I should post this elsewhere. I'm new to the group as of ten minutes ago. Thank you.

Hello April2Mom and welcome to the forum. Your account has been activated. It is probably a good idea to repost your request in the members-only forum as these older public threads rarely get responses.
