RE: Joining The Support Board - HD26 - 27-Nov-2021 I'm watching my 23 year old daughter basically kill herself. She told me she always knew but did not have the right words to express herself. She has always been very shy, anxious and in while away in college got depressed. Jr/snr year Broke up with her boyfriend and dated a girl. Before we could get our heads around that, she broke up with the girl & moved back home and announced she was trans. Because of her age my hands are tied. She even found herself a counselor who told her where to get hormones. Everything I say is met with "I'll ask what he thinks" .. she is planning on hormone therapy. I met the counselor once and he told me i had to call her a "he" and that he would kick me out if I caused discomfort to my daughter. My beautiful girl is gone. I'm left with a shell who is always on her phone watching. . It is especially tragic when this happens to our kdis at or after age 18, because hormones and other medical treatments are available on demand through ICATH (Informed Consent for Access to Trans Health). As you put it, parents' hands are tied. While there's not too much that you can do, other than loving your daughter and doing what you can to keep an open path and communication for her to return to herself, you have come to the right place for support, friendship, news and advice. Everyone here knows you are not phobic or cruel, and understands what you are going through and what you are dealing with. Welcome. You are not alone. (28-Oct-2021, 06:39 PM)ISA Wrote: Hi all. I am glad to have found this board, but I honestly wish I hadn’t had to, and I wish there weren’t so many of you here as well. It is nice to not feel so alone, but I hate that there are others going through this as well. Our 15 year old daughter announced a few months ago that she is trans. We know that is not who she truly is. She has never shown any inclination of this before. We have been reading book after book, and searching high and low for anything that can help us. We did finally find a counselor willing to work with her and take a neutral position and work on anxiety and depression to start with. We definitely need any help we can get. Right now, we are just praying without ceasing A belated welcome to you, ISA. I'm glad you found this forum but sad that you needed to. You are not alone. All accounts are activated manually, so the time newly registered members must wait for their memberships to be activated depends upon the availability of a moderator. Thanks for your patience. Hi, Emz. To join the board, look up toward the top of this page and you will see a black bar going across the page. In that black bar, toward the left-hand side, is the word "register." Click on "register" and follow the prompts to create an account. Once you have completed that process, your account must also be activated by a moderator. The activation process is manual, so you may have to wait a few hours (or more) depending upon moderator availability, before you can access the members-only area. I hope this info is helpful. If you follow the directions above and are still having issues joining/registering, just post back here again and we will figure something out. Best wishes, and welcome to the forum. RE: Joining The Support Board - MartinH - 28-Feb-2022 I'm trying to register, but the form is rejecting my valid email address - can you tell me how to get past this? It's an email at live.co.uk which is legit. It's an email at live.co.uk which is legit. Hi, Martin. Could it be that you already registered using the screenname jon (all lowercase letters)? Someone registered in December with a similar IP address and a similar live.co.uk email address as your MartinH screenname. Try signing in with your usual email address, using the username jon, then let me know. Once we figure it out, I can delete this reply so that this info does not remain on the web. Just let me know. |
