Starting with teachers at the start of middle school asking for pronouns in class, we've been down a path of pronouns and name change, self-harm, hospitalization, and inpatient therapy that lasted weeks. School, doctor, and therapist have all led us down a path of social transition that we feel very uneasy about. We can't seem to find resources to help with an alternative approach focused on or exploration of what is leading us to where we are right now vs. starting immediately with affirmation. It's been a nightmare and we need help. RE: finding reliable medical practitioners - judes459 - 05-May-2022 Did you ever find anyone? Thank you for the advice about whom not to use in Massachusetts. Does anyone know of a good therapist in the Boston area who treats these teens and young adults with a wider lens to focus more on the wider issues, like depression? I would appreciate any recommendations. Thank you. HELP!!!!!!!!!! Welcome to the forum, Mommy123. I am so sorry for the troubles your daughter and yourself are having. It is such a difficult and upsetting situation to find yourselves in. I am sending you a PM (private message) with a possible name in a nearby town. In the meantime, your account has been activated. I encourage you to post your query in the members-only area, now that you have access to it as a forum member. If you post in that area, more members will see your post and you'll have a better chance at getting a response. I also encourage you to visit this page, which has advice for finding, interviewing and vetting therapists: https://genderexploratory.com/browse/ Often, finding your own therapist using this advice is the best or sometimes even the only way to find a therapist, as most cannot advertise that they offer an exploratory approach because it is considered within some laws to be conversion therapy. Obviously it is not, but that is the insane position parents find themselves in these days. There is additional advice for finding and vetting therapists inside the members-only area of this forum. Hang in there, fellow parents are here to offer what help we can, as well as lots of support. Wishing you the best, and again, welcome to the forum.
