Hello FlyingNone,

So sorry for your frustration with the site. The way this forum works is that all memberships must be manually activated by a moderator before the member has access to the members-only area of the forum. Before activation, you only have access to the public board. Sometimes there can be a bit of a wait for activation.

But, the good news is your membership is now activated. You'll find lots of support and advice here, especially in the members-only area. Welcome. I hope you'll find the site helpful.

I'm sorry about your situation I'm not at all near you so I can't help in your search but let me just say - and I think I can speak for everyone on this forum, that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I hope you can make the jump over to the private member pages and search for help and support over there. I'm sorry you are facing the same nightmare the rest of us are living. Best to you and see you on the member pages.

Lately she keeps her hair short and wears t shirts and jeans or long shorts.  She goes to an all girls school and a girl in her class  (of 50 kids) just became FTM.  She herself still likes american girl, etc.  All of a sudden she tells me she wants to be  a boy. The only kind of weird thing is she is very creative and draws her own graphic novels but mainly a male character.  Recenltly she was complaining though to DH that there is only ONE female ninja in lego ninjago.
She was an easy toddler but is easily distracted in school. She does not meet criteria for ADHD but is close (we had her evaluated 3 years ago)/ . Also, she is a little immature for age/ her class.  She has always been self conscious about showing skin and is terrified of going out without sunblock!
I really believe she is a girl.  I dont want a therapist who will try to help her transition.
Sasha Ayad offered up the name below. Unfortunately for me I am in WNY but may work out for you. He has a office in Manhattan.

thank you!!!!

I am new here and just searched this thread for recommendations near NYC. Did you try David Schwartz for therapy? How did he work out for your child? I just contacted Dr. Schwartz and hope to get some input from someone who tried him personally. Looking for my 15 year old with new onset gender dysphoria.

My son came out as transgender a year ago. Since then he has made repeated reports of feeling like self harming. He is seeing a gender affirming therapist and just getting worse. Would anyone have a recommendation for a therapist in the Boston Massachusetts area? Thank you.

We are looking for a gender critical therapist in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area.  Anyone have any referrals?

15 year daughter ROGD, current therapists did not want to help, now daughter is 16 years old and  we are back looking for new therapist.  I feel like we lost a year of finding the root cause of any underlying issues.

Concerned Mom

Tried to reply in the public space as I was not sure you had joined.  Did you find a therapist?  I may have one if she is taking new patients.  I will check.  I do believe from all our visits that she is taking a critical eye to my son's "diagnosis".  We together decided not to go to Genecis who will only affirm.

I'm so thankful to find this group. I realize this is an older thread, but I'm desperate to find a gender-critical therapist in the Dallas/North Dallas area. My daughter endured a trauma within two weeks of onset of puberty. She feels that FTM transition will make all her self-esteem issues relating to the trauma disappear. Current counselors are solely focusing on her declaration of transgender instead of helping her work through the initial trauma. Her school counselor is praising and congratulating her trans declaration and using male pronouns. NO ONE is addressing the root-cause of her mental decline, and we are desperate to find a doctor who will listen. Thank you in advance for any suggestions, and please let me know if I should post this elsewhere. I'm new to the group as of ten minutes ago. Thank you.
