one question, how do you know that those are causation and not correlation? also some of those are just confusing, like what does being good at math have to do with it?

Hello, guest.

I can't speak for the person who created this profile, but I believe these are mainly observations. We are all here trying to figure out why so many of the same type of person (in this specific thread, mainly boys and young men with many of the traits above) are taking on a transgender identity when in past generations they would not have. Of course, not every boy or young man is going to tick all the boxes, but based on what many of us are observing, it is in uncanny how many of these boys/young men do fit a good number of these traits.

There are very few real answers as to why this trend is growing and how so many kids and young adults are falling into this belief, and in order to find answers, someone qualified and impartial would need to conduct a deep-dive study into this population. However, because it is considered "transphobic" to question this trend at all, to call it a trend, to even suggest that kids would be better off if they did not have to deal with feelings of being the opposite sex or wishing they were the opposite sex, or just to point out that medical transition is not healthy for the human body, we may never get any real answers. Studies get almost immediately shut down if not preemptively cancelled due to cries of transphobia because most research institutions (universities) are captured by trans ideology and do whatever transactivists tell them they must do.

This issue is why this board exists, so parents can put our heads together and try to figure a few things out for ourselves, to gain some understanding. This forum is also here so that parents can lean on each other and support each other.

If you're a parent of a trans-identifying child, I encourage you to join as a member if you haven't already, so that you can access the full board where parents feel more comfortable to speak a little more freely than in this public section.

I've just found this forum and not shocked to see my 25yo son meets 98% of these criteria. Have tried him with 2 different therapists but he won't engage as soon as he's challenged on his beliefs. What I want to know is how do we rescue him. What's worked for other parents?

Hello, Thruddler, and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry your son has become caught up in this.

Your account has been activated. I encourage you to post in our members-only area, where it is likely to be seen by more members and get a better response. You'll also find information pertinent to your situation already posted in that area.

Again, welcome, and I'm so sorry for what you and you son are dealing with. I hope you find the forum helpful.

Our 20 year old son checks most of these boxes except:
He said he started feeling this way at age 12 but just told us at age 20
He tried to be athletic but eventually gave up after 9th grade
Smart but not a good student ( executive functioning is a major weakness)
Became sexually active and promiscuous in 9th grade (with girls)
Had a serious girlfriend for 18 months (break up was catalyst to his mental deterioration )
No longer interested in dating
We are fiscally conservative but in the center on social issues

All except for 3, 23. And 10. He's a good athlete, but isn't that interested in competition, so maybe 10 is still accurate. And, he doesn't even want to be addressed as she/her or change name. Nothing. But still insists he's trans. Spot on. And, we are liberal.

My son fits most of these pointS, but not all. He claims age of onset in teen years, but did not say anything to us until his 20's. He was a competitive dancer for many years always as the male lead later on. He has said specifically that he is not homosexual or bisexual. He has always been a little awkward socai6, but he was very successful at school.and now.at his current job. I am not sure if he has had any sexual experience, but he had been known to watch porn.  He is a successful adult other than this, so number 23 doesn't really fit. 26 is not correct either.  This is all very upsetting as we are unable to find much support as parents who don't think this is at all healthy. It is made even more crazy as his older sister has also told she is now a man. I am feeling hopeless.
